Trail Update 4/11/09 AM
Trails are CLOSED for the season.
It was a good year for snowmobiling in Wyoming County. We groomed over 720 hours this season. Trails signs are being picked up and trail projects are being discussed. The club needs someone (trail captain) to take over maintenence of trail C-3 from Letchworth school to Letchworth Park at the Castile entrance. That person would need to put up signs in the fall and then take them down in the spring. That section of trail is about 6 miles in length. Anyone interested contact Mike Black. The railroad bed trail (S-30) needs bridge railing work. Railings need repair or replacement on a few of the bridges. We will be repairing culverts in the Gainesville area on that trail also. A bridge is being replaced on trail S-33 near Popular Tree road. As always, it seems there is a lot of work that will need to be done before fall. If you would like to help on any trail projects, please contact Mike Black or Jeff Fitch and let them know. Even if you have let us know in the past that you would help, let us know again. We sure could use a LOT more help on the trails.
Looking for help on the entire trail system with signing, brushing, and bridge maintenance. Most of the volunteers that are doing the work now have been doing this work since the early 90s. A few are getting tired and sure would like some new people to join in and help. Maybe take over the complete maintenance of a short section of trail. As always, if interested in helping on the trails, please contact Mike Black, Trail Coordinator @ 585-322-9009 or presidentjefffitch@gmail.com
A new Wyoming County map is out at local establishments and can also be obtained at our regular meetings.
As always, we are looking for more groomer operators. If you have volunteered in the past, please do so again. If you have never operated a groomer but feel you can do it, give me a shout. If interested in helping out with trail work or running a groomer, contact Mike Black, Trail Coordinator @ 585-322-9009 or mblack@localnet.com
Finally updated the pictures. The first picture below is of C4 west of Bliss. Second picture is of the windmill that is real close to the trail on C4. The third picture is of a snowmobiler with the whole family out for a ride, with one sled!
ATVs are not allowed on trails maintained by Oatka Valley unless you have specific permission from the landowner to be there.
